Position Overview

The Department of Surgery in the Cumming School of Medicine invites applications for a Research Coordinator. This Fixed Term Recurring Part-time position is for approximately 9 months (based on length of grant funding), with the possibility of extension.

This position reports to the Assistant Scientific Director of the Bone and Joint Health Strategic Clinical Network.

Research Coordinator who can help move forward our impactful research (Study: MSK Transformation - Provider Experience of MSK Care in Alberta) by engaging with our clinical sites and stakeholders to facilitate communications, patient recruitment, quality data collection, and achievement of research deliverables.

This is a recurring part-time position with variable hours. Recurring part-time employees are hourly employees engaged to perform work on an irregular schedule.

Position Description

Summary of Key Responsibilities (job functions include but are not limited to):

  • Circulate information about the study through various communication vehicles (email, websites, written format, social media)
  • Recruit, screen and enroll study participants (on and off site)
  • Organize interview schedule and book interviews
  • Effectively communicate with Research Associates regarding data collection (e.g., interview bookings)
  • Co-develop and implement processes to organize project documents, including collection and storage of consent forms, interview transcripts, and participant master lists
  • Organize team meetings and track meeting minutes
  • Manage project activities to ensure timely progression of such activities by all team members
  • Support preparation of presentations reporting study findings
  • Recruit and consent participants (patients and health professionals) to the study, following appropriate ethical protocols
  • Support literature review processes
  • Support preparation of publications (academic, operations, policy etc.)
Qualifications / Requirements:
  • Minimum Bachelor level degree in a health or health-related field; Masters level training preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant experience
  • Education in health or health-related field
  • Completion of graduate degree (Masters level)
  • Completion of tri-council ethics training (e.g. TCPS 2.0)
  • Completion of equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) training/modules/course
  • Knowledgeable about research processes
  • Familiar with social media and use of social media platforms
  • Intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Office, Outlook and basic computer skills
  • Experience in managing research projects
  • Strong communication (oral and written) skills
  • Record of publications in peer-reviewed academic journals
  • Experience preparing and applying various information dissemination strategies for research/evaluation projects (briefing notes, policy reports, business cases, grey reports etc.)
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills; detail-oriented
  • Knowledge of University policies
