invites applications for a

Research Coordinator

. This Full-time Fixed Term position is for approximately 1 year (based on length of grant funding), with the possibility of extension.


This position reports to the Principal Investigator.


The Research Coordinator will assist in all stages of research projects, from developing ethics applications and documents, to data collection and analysis, to report writing and supporting grant applications. Research projects may include: systematic reviews (including title and abstract screening, full text screening and analysis), prospective and retrospective cohort studies, secondary-use data analysis studies, and qualitative interviews and focus groups.


Summary of Key Responsibilities

(job functions include but are not limited to):

Assist with data collection and participant recruitment (patients and healthcare providers) and ensuring Principal Investigator is up to date and informed on progress and challenges of recruitment Support the research team by coordinating research activities across several research projects and assist the Principal Investigator with strategies for completing research project deliverables according to budget and timelines Assist project team with the development of recruitment strategy, data collection instruments, and data dictionary. Advise Principal Investigator if changes or adaptions are required and undertake modifications of instruments Conduct knowledge syntheses and assist with systematic and scoping reviews Manage and maintain comprehensive databases applying quality controls measures to ensure a clean, robust dataset is maintained (data cleaning and good data management procedures) Prepare reports and write manuscripts resulting from research activities Assist with ethics submissions and grant applications for new research projects Collaborate and work with internal and external knowledge users. Establishes and maintains effective, productive relationships with staff, peers, immediate supervisor and senior management and with the campus community Manages time effectively and ensures Principal Investigator is kept informed of activities, and progress of work Demonstrated strong communication, team and customer service skills, and an ability to exercise judgment within established guidelines

Qualifications / Requirements:



Master's degree in health related field (epidemiology or health services research an asset) Methodological skill sets Knowledge of qualitative and quantitative research methods, statistics and epidemiology, knowledge synthesis methods Skills in statistical software (Stata, SAS, or R preferable) and database management an asset Excellent organization skills, including the ability to work independently and to multitask Excellent attention to details is a must High level of effective time management, personal initiative and team work Experience writing ethics submissions and grant applications an asset Exceptional written and oral communication skills is essential Strong team skills as this position will have a high degree of interaction/contact with patients, researchers, students and other interested parties Strong interpersonal skills and professional demeanor Ability to thrive and deliver results in a fast-paced team environment Intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel PowerPoint) and internet skills Knowledge of University core business systems is an asset
