Clinical Research Coordinator Assistant
Position Summary
Under the direction of the Clinical Research Coordinator, the Clinical Research Coordinator Assistant is responsible for collecting and processing blood samples, following proper procedures as outlined in the laboratory manual; performing EKG's; receiving and preparing specimens for analysis; preparing specimens for send-out to central laboratories; booking appointments and receiving patients; urinalysis testing; ensuring the cleanliness of equipment in the work area; following established safety and infection control procedures; filing and preparing lab reports; filing and preparing documents as required for each patient visit. This position will also require computer literacy and the ability to work with and learn new computer programs (training to be provided).
Key Tasks
1. Greet patients and explain the specimen collection process
2. Perform phlebotomies
3. Process blood and urine samples
4. Perform ECGs (this skill can be taught)
5. Prepare and document specimens for transportation and testing
6. Filing and preparing of required forms for each patient visit
7. Maintaining computer databases
Qualifications
1. Graduate of an approved Laboratory Assistant program or equivalent work experience
2. Experience as a Laboratory Assistant in a medical setting is helpful
3. Phlebotomy experience (at least 1 year)
4. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
5. Good computer skills
6. Physically able to perform the essential duties of the job
7. Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a busy environment
This is a full time position
40 hours per week.
