The Ontario Tobacco Research Unit (OTRU) was established in 1993 as the research and evaluation component of the Ontario Tobacco Strategy. Over three decades, OTRU has become a key player in the tobacco control community in Canada and internationally. OTRU is located within the Institute of Mental Health Policy Research (IMHPR) at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH). IMHPR has an outstanding tradition of combining scientific rigour and practical relevance.
OTRU is seeking a full-time, contract (12 months) Research Coordinator to work collaboratively as part of a team of researchers to develop and implement evaluation research involving both quantitative and qualitative data. This position will primarily support two research projects within IMHPR. One project involves triangulating evidence on the execution and effects of multiple interventions to treat youth suffering from addiction to e-cigarettes, mobile devices, online gambling, and other substances. The second project involves conducting population level intervention research contributing to new knowledge in the field of youth substance use prevention, with a specific focus on learning from promising interventions.
The Research Coordinator will manage responsibilities including, but not limited to:
Submitting quality review / ethics applications
Literature reviews
Participant recruitment and interaction
Qualitative and quantitative data collection
Data management
Qualitative and quantitative data analysis and interpretation
Development and implementation of knowledge exchange activities
Coordination of key stakeholder engagement meetings
Monitoring the project budget
Assisting with financial and accountability reporting
Preparing manuscripts, reports, and presentations
The Research Coordinator will contribute significantly to the monitoring of the project work plan and achievement of key deliverables. In addition to overall project coordination, specific responsibilities will include preparation and participation in project team and Advisory Committee meetings. This position will also include assisting in the development of scientific papers for publication in peer-reviewed journals.

Job Requirements
The successful candidate must possess a Masters level degree in Public Health or Health Studies, Psychology, Sociology, Epidemiology or a health-related field, with at least two (2) years of relevant research experience.
Key qualifications include:
Considerably demonstrated experience in qualitative and quantitative data collection and analysis, and analyzing administrative data
Ability to manage and analyze large secondary databases
Experience conducting literature reviews and knowledge of library databases and reference management software, contributing to scientific writing, and proven data synthesis skills
Knowledge and understanding of research design, data collection methods, and strategies for data management
Experience with grant budgets and financial report acuity
Experience working with internal and external stakeholders, coordinating key stakeholder engagement initiatives, and working with people with lived and living experience with substance use
Demonstrated experience developing and administering data collection tools using online data capture platforms such as REDCap
Experience with Quality Assurance procedures
Experience preparing and submitting research ethics applications
Creativity and strong knowledge translation skills; ability to translate complex information into a variety of engaging formats for diverse audience groups including social media
Strong knowledge of ethical conduct of research in human participants, including GCP and TCPS2
Excellent organizational skills with high attention to detail and determined attitude towards ensuring accuracy and integrity
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Excellent problem-solving and critical-thinking skills
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate with diverse individuals, teams, and people with lived/living experience within the community
