Job Description


The Knowledge Translation (KT) Program at the Li Ka Shing Knowledge Institute of St. Michael's Hospital is currently looking for a Research Coordinator I to join the dynamic and growing team. The primary role of the Research Coordinator – Education Facilitator is to support implementation of an intervention to improve response to COVID-19 in long-term care and retirement home facilities. Currently we are seeking an individual to take on a full time (1.0 FTE) 12 month contract to support the Team of Implementation, Evaluation and Sustainability (TIES) within the Knowledge Translation Program with this task. We are seeking an individual with experience in applied research, knowledge facilitation/mobilization, KT tool development, and a strong interest in evidence implementation. Examples of the kind of work required include: creating knowledge translation products and content (e.g., infographics, presentations), supporting homes and congregate care settings to disseminate and implement evidence-based educational materials, preparing project protocols and REB materials, and supporting the research team to evaluate implementation efforts using qualitative and quantitative research skills. The position requires working with a large number of stakeholder groups; therefore, excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential. Preference will be given to candidates with experience working with older adult populations, particularly in the long-term care context. Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist in the implementation of an initiative to support long-term care facilities, shelters and congregate care settings’ response to and preparation for the COVID-19 pandemic via ongoing tailored support using established methods
  • Conceptualize, create, and write high-quality, innovative KT products and content
  • Work collaboratively with key stakeholders in research, hospitals, and long-term care facilities and other congregate care settings to support the tailoring and implementation of infection prevention and control, wellness, mental health and wraparound resources in a variety of settings, including development and implementation of a robust, multi stakeholder dissemination plan.
  • Oversee and undertake collection and management of study-related data – ensuring quality control
  • Monitor the progress of project activities; develop and maintain records of project activities and prepare periodic reports as required by investigators, administrators, funding agencies, and/or regulatory bodies
  • Maintain data documentation and storage of records, in accordance with hospital policies and relevant privacy regulations
  • Collaborate with team members to analyze study-related data, write and edit presentations, reports, proposals, and publications

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor of Science, social science, humanities, marketing and/or communication degree required
  • Master’s Degree in a related discipline or 3 years in relevant research coordinator experience preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of experience conducting and/or supporting knowledge mobilization/implementation projects
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a diverse team environment
  • Ability to adapt to changes in project direction
  • Ability to rapidly adapt program activities to address challenges
  • Strong problem-solving and conflict resolution skills
  • Ability to quickly learn new content related to standards of care and ideal healthcare practices
  • Ability to understand, synthesize, summarize and disseminate evidence
  • Meticulous attention to detail and capable of independent decision-making
  • Experience with implementation and facilitation is an asset
  • Expertise in plain language writing
  • Competency in the science and practice of knowledge translation is an asset
  • Demonstrated experience with creative knowledge translation (KT) products is an asset
  • Experience in a healthcare related setting, specifically in the long-term care and/or congregate care context is an asset
  • Must hold experience conducting and analyzing qualitative interviews
  • Experience in analyzing quantitative statistics an asset
  • Experience with engaging health decision-makers, clinicians, patients and community members in research
  • Access to a vehicle or other transportation purposes to independently travel between long-term care sites in the Greater Toronto Area is as asset
  • Ability to work from home to comply with COVID-19 measures (e.g., access to phone, internet, etc.)
  • Ability to work in a hybrid model onsite at St. Michael’s Hospital
