The Advancing Youth Mental Health (AYM) research team at the Offord Centre for Child Studies, led by Dr. Kathy Georgiades, is committed to improving child and youth mental health and reducing inequities in access to effective mental health care through integrated mental health science, policy and practice. AYM is seeking a highly motivated, full-time Research Coordinator to support a CIHR-funded national longitudinal study on child and youth health, mental health and access to care in Canada and the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic response on Canadian children, youth and their families. The Research Coordinator will be responsible for: (1) Communication and engagement with researchers, policy partners, community organizations, and governmental collaborators; (2) Leading development of knowledge translation and knowledge mobilization products and processes related to the team's community engagement and partnerships, and the scientific contributions of those aspects of our projects and grant applications; (3) Establishing, recruiting, and overseeing community advisory groups with youth, caregivers and community partners. (4) Organizing and facilitating large meetings with interdisciplinary collaborators from academic-research institutions, federal policy partners and national community organizations for children, youth and their families. (5) Conducting literature reviews, write sections of scientific papers, funding proposals, and abstracts; and (6) Coordinate the activities of research staff and resources to ensure that the project progresses in accordance with timelines, in addition to developing estimates of time and resources for research projects.


This is a 12 month position with opportunities for renewal.

Job Summary:




Responsible for implementing, monitoring, refining, analyzing, coordinating, and reporting on several research projects. Acts as a resource for the development of protocols, study documents, operations of study management, and management techniques.

Key Responsibilities:



Apply specialized knowledge and scientific principles to review, critically appraise and interpret published literature. Write sections of scientific papers, funding proposals, and abstracts. Coordinate the activities of research staff and resources to ensure that the project progresses in accordance with predetermined timelines. Develop estimates of time and resources for research projects. Oversee the collection, entry, verification, management, analysis, and reporting of data. Use statistical software to analyze data and interpret results. Design and maintain databases, data collection forms, error checking methods and related programs for efficient collection, analysis, and reporting. Troubleshoot moderately complex computer problems. Write data management and operations documentation for projects. Liaise between the project centre and remote project sites and personnel. Conduct structured project participant interviews. Ensure that the relevant research methodology is applied and all research material is handled in accordance with established protocols, policies, and procedures. Participate in the development of promotional strategies and related materials to encourage participation and support for research projects. Consult on protocol development, student organization, and data management activities. Develop presentations and present information and training sessions to project personnel and project participants. Present at meetings, seminars, and conferences. Keep project participants informed of project progress through regular reports and newsletters. Implement and maintain research project budgets. Create financial projections and make adjustments to research project budgets throughout the fiscal year. Exercise appropriate controls, monitor, and reconcile accounts. Conduct literature searches.

Requirements

Education: Bachelor's degree in a relevant field of study Experience: Requires 4 years of relevant experience

Assets:



A master's degree in health research methodology, psychology, social work or a related field is considered an asset, but not a requirement. Substantive knowledge in the areas of developmental, educational or clinical psychology, school mental health, health measurement and psychometrics social inequalities and education. Experience organizing and leading large meetings with interdisciplinary collaborators. Ability to work collaboratively in a team setting, effectively manage multiple studies and timelines, have excellent problem-solving skills, as well as interpersonal, communication and organizational skills are all considered assets. Evidence of self-directed independent scholarship, strong interpersonal, communication and writing skills

Additional Information:



Experience with, mixed-methods research (preferably in the education and youth mental health sector) as well as with health measurement, survey design and consensus building methodologies. Experience as primary liaison with community partners, particularly within the child and youth mental health sector, policy partners, and governmental institutions Experience organizing and leading large meetings with interdisciplinary collaborators Experience conducting systematic literature reviews Evidence of self-directed independent scholarship, strong interpersonal, communication and writing skills Demonstrated ability to effectively work with a large, inter-disciplinary team to execute project plans Strong organizational skills and ability to balance multiple responsibilities
