Our commitment to employment equity helps achieve inclusion and fairness, brings rich diversity to UBC as a workplace, and creates the necessary conditions for a rewarding career.Job SummaryThe primary focus of this position is to provide communications and knowledge mobilization support for the Sexual Health And genito-Pelvic pain knowledge Empowerment Hub (SHAPE): a pan-Canadian initiative dedicated to addressing barriers in accessing information and treatment for sexual difficulties and genito-pelvic pain in women and gender-diverse people. The Research Communications Coordinator will assist with research and knowledge mobilization work, such as supporting study recruitment, assisting with data analysis, and creating and distributing knowledge translation and communications materials.Due to the highly sensitive nature of the research carried out in the UBC Sexual Health Research Lab, this individual must understand and exemplify the ethics of confidentiality, sensitivity, and respect when communicating with all partners and participants.Organizational Status
The Research Communications Coordinator reports to the Principal Investigator and will work primarily under the direction of the SHAPE Knowledge Mobilization Manager. This position will be based in the Diamond Health Care Centre at Vancouver General Hospital.Work PerformedDesign and distribute communication materials such as the Hub newsletterParticipate in research team meetings and follow up on action itemsSupport outreach for community engagement, webinars, workshops and eventsSupport recruitment efforts for Hub surveys by designing fliers and social media postsProgram questionnaires in QualtricsPrepare paperwork for processing participant compensationAssist in conducting systematic literature reviews, a policy/legislative scan, and support the synthesis of grey literatureSupport data analysis for surveysOther related duties as requiredConsequence of Error/Judgement
The Research Communications Coordinator is required to conduct all research activities in an ethical manner and with adherence to the Tri-Council Policy Statement concerning Ethical Conduct for Research Involving Humans. Any procedures or data recorded as part of this research must be accurate and must accurately reflect the work performed. Strict confidentiality of all study participants must be adhered to.Supervision Received
Direct supervision and review of tasks and performance will be carried out by the Knowledge Mobilization Manager. The Research Communications Coordinator will work independently with regular check-ins with the Knowledge Mobilization Manager and Principal Investigator.Supervision Given
