DESCRIPTION:

The Department of Chemistry at the University of Toronto invites applications for a Research Associate (Limited Term) for a 2-year(s) appointment. The anticipated start date is September 1, 2023.

The Research Associate is expected to independently carry out research projects in the development and application of machine learning models of quantum properties that are applicable throughout chemical compound space. The successful candidate will investigate how to further improve scalable amon-based strategies in order to reduce training data needs and to exploit redundancies in chemical space. Connections to alchemical perturbation density functional theory and density matrix theory shall be studied. Assistance with teaching, grant proposal writing, and administrative duties is expected. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education - PhD in computational/physical/quantum chemistry.

Experience - The successful candidate will be an expert in the topic area with demonstrated published expertise and multiple years of postdoctoral research.

Minimum 5 years of experience in conducting research on Quantum machine learning (QML) in physics and chemistry, specifically, improved representations, multi-level grid-combination learning, conducting large compute campaigns for quantum chemistry calculations, and amon based training and predictions.

Published evidence for successful developments of quantum machine learning models that can be applied throughout chemical compound space. In particular, past developments should have dealt with improved representations, multi-level grid-combination learning, conducting large compute campaigns for quantum chemistry calculations, and amon based training and predictions.

Skills - Coding and presentation; Programming language (e.g. Bash, C, Fortran, Python, R, C++, Matlab/Octave, Mathematica, OpenMP, OpenMPI)
