The KITE Research Institute at University Health Network (UHN) is the research arm of Toronto Rehab. KITE is a world leader in the field of the complex rehabilitation research, with scientists and staff dedicated to improving the lives of people living with the effects of disability, illness and aging. KITE\'s areas of focus include injury prevention, restoration of function, independent living and community integration.Reporting to the Director, Partnerships and Strategic Initiatives and in close collaboration with Director, Fabric-based Research Platform (FIBRE), this role is a unique opportunity to use your background in textiles, fashion technology, operations and project design/delivery to translate the use of smart textiles as vehicles for the delivery of care.We are looking for a team member who is goal-oriented and self-motivated, and who will connect respectfully and meaningfully with scientists, clinicians, learners and staff, as well as external stakeholders.The Research Associate II will be responsible for leading projects in support of FIBRE Operations (including infrastructure/grant support, industry/academic/ecosystem relations), perform activities to support FIBRE Scientists and KITE strategic initiatives that involve design/development/delivery of outreach activations (including, but not limited to, stakeholder relations, educational workshops, make-a-thons, co-design events and networking events).For further information on The KITE Research Institute, please visit our website at www.kite-uhn.com.Duties

  • Utilizes expert technical knowledge of textiles and fashion technology
  • Work with FIBRE investigators on all stages of research studies with minimal supervision
  • Project design for collaborative projects and sets research goals and objectives
  • Provide infrastructure/grant support
  • Builds strong relations with internal and external stakeholders
  • Design/develop/deliver outreach activations (including workshops, presentations, make-a-thon, co-design events) to support FIBRE and other KITE strategic initiatives
  • Provides direct supervision for assigned personnel, as required
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • Master\'s degree in Textiles, Fashion Technology, Textile Engineering, Industrial Design or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum 7 years of related experience
  • Experience with supporting the operations of a team, group or facility
  • Experience with Microsoft Office suite, Project Management software (including Microsoft Project, Asana) and design/textile software (including Adobe Creative Suite, etc.)
  • Experience with design, develop and delivery of workshops/programs
  • Strong project-management and leadership skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to facilitate solid working relationships with staff, faculty, students and leadership
  • Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to multi-task, manage timelines and meet deadlines
  • Trustworthy, reliable and able to work with minimal supervision
  • Ability to work collaboratively within the team, and to work well independently in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to take initiative and propose new, creative projects
  • Experience in healthcare and/or scientific research is an asset
  • Demonstrated commitment to a healthy and safe workplace for self and others (team members, colleagues and other staff etc.) by taking all reasonable precautions and working in compliance with UHN\'s policies, health and safety legislation and best practices, and completing relevant mandatory education as required
