• Plans, performs, and streamlines purification workflows of antibodies/antigens using FPLC systems, gravity flow columns, and high-throughput plate-based methods.
• Provides analytical and biophysical characterizations of antibodies and other protein therapeutics, including designing, planning, and executing experiments, either independently or in collaboration with teammates.
• Troubleshoot methods, suggest improvements, and assist with developing new technologies for project advancement.
• Makes detailed observations, maintains experimental records, analyzes data, draw conclusions, and make recommendations for future investigations.
• Mentors junior researchers within a rapidly growing and dynamic team.
• Participates in departmental activities and presents data in cross-functional team meetings.
• Maintains a clean, organized, and operational lab.
• Conducts all activities in accordance with scientific standards, OS&H regulations and established Zymeworks\' policies and practices.
• Actively works to foster an environment of effective and collaborative working relationships across the organization.
• Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

• BSc in a scientific discipline and a minimum of 2 to 5 years related industrial experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Skills and Abilities

• Hands-on experience with purification of antibody/antigens, preferably in an industry setting.
• Protein purification (e.g. protein A/G/L, IEX, IMAC, or SEC) and familiarity with AKTA (FPLC) system.
• Protein analytical techniques: PAGE, CE-SDS, HPLC-SEC, Western Blotting, ELISA, cIEF, DSC, DSF, DLS or MALS.
• Experience with aseptic techniques.
• Experience and knowledge in some of the following is an asset:

• SPR or BLI
• Molecular biology
• Antibody sequence and structures, post-translational modifications.
• Biophysical characterizations and developability assays.
• Protein modification (e.g. bioconjugation, redox chemistry, enzymatic digestion).
• Proven interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively as a member of cross-functional team. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
• A self-motivated individual with good organizational skills and the initiative to meet project goals under tight timelines.
• Good oral communication, scientific/technical writing skills, and ability to present data at team and intra-departmental meetings.

We regularly benchmark our compensation against leading biotechnology companies in our geographies.The Canadian base salary range for this full time position is $60,000 - $92,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location.The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all Canadian locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by a variety of factors and the salary offered may vary depending on the successful candidate\'s location and qualifications (including, but not limited to, job-related knowledge, education, training, skills, and experience).Please note that the compensation details listed in role postings reflect the base salary only, and do not include bonus, equity, or benefits.Our team enjoys:
