6 - Month, Definite Term Contract - Full Time

Two (2) - Research Assistants

For the community of La Ronge

Lac La Ronge Indian Band Health Services is in search of One (1) Research Assistant to work with LLRIB Health Services Department and the University of Saskatchewan for a 6 month Full Time Definite Term to assist in the implementation of an existing new research project. The successful candidates will work with LLRIB members with the support of the research team.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Recruits participants for the study who are LLRIB members ages 18+;
  • Provides potential participants with a good understanding of the research project;
  • Obtains consent either written, electronic (via iPad) or verbal;
  • Supports the clients' completion of the questionnaires electronically;
  • Performs the collection of dry blood spots through a finger poke for participants and teaches some participants to complete a follow-up test on their own;
  • Reviews and assesses the data collected to optimize recruitment;
  • Liaise with study team, investigators, and Lac La Ronge community committee;
  • Submit reports, documentation and make sure protocols are followed;
  • Follows Quality Control guidelines for the study;
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor and/or designate.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum Grade 12;
  • Experience and/or training in the Health field considered a definite asset;
  • Computer skills - good working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel as well as email and social media;
  • Possesses a keen interest in research and able to follow specific study protocols;
  • Willing to take direction and further training as required;
  • Ability to use discretion and maintain patient confidentiality;
  • Current and satisfactory Criminal Record Check/Vulnerable Sector Screening required;
  • Experience working with LLRIB communities is an asset;
  • Knowledge of Woodland Cree Language, Culture and Traditions an asset;
  • Valid Class 5 Driver's License is required;
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing;
  • Demonstrated ability to deal with others effectively;
  • Demonstrated ability to organize work.
