Job Description


Research Assistants are normally students, in a University of Winnipeg undergraduate program, employed to assist with tasks related to research. Work is performed within defined guidelines and under supervision of a more senior researcher or faculty member.
Position Overview: This is a part-time (up to 20 hours/week Research Assistant position. The position entails the following tasks: (1) preparation of meteorites and terrestrial analogue materials for spectroscopic analysis; (2) acquisition of spectral reflectance and Raman reflectance data for these samples.


Duties:

  • Prepare samples for research.
  • Prepare and operate scientific equipment for research.
  • Assist with production of articles.
  • Assist in data analysis.

Qualifications:
  • Pursuing an undergraduate degree in a science disciplines.
  • Familiarity with operating an ASD reflectance spectrometer and BWTek iRaman 532 nm Raman spectrometer.

Condition(s) of Employment:
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
The period of work will be from September 5, 2022 - August 8, 2023 and the estimated total hours of work will be 800 hours.. Note: This position is represented by the Public Service Alliance of Canada - Research Capacity Unit. Note: The work described in this posting will be conducted in-person.
