About the Opportunity
The Maritime SPOR SUPPORT Unit (MSSU), formed in 2013, is one of eleven geographically based research units across Canada designed to provide methodological, data, knowledge translation and capacity building activities that facilitate the conduct of high-quality research to improve the health of the people living in the Maritime Provinces. By design, the MSSU addresses the health research priorities of government and provincial health authorities, while also serving as a resource to health researchers and the public. The MSSU is dedicated to supporting patient-oriented research and decision-making that will reflect the needs and values of Maritime patients.
The MSSU functions as a Maritime organization designed to build health research resources, to focus on collaborative opportunities and to perform research projects based in two or three provinces. In addition, each province has its own node that functions somewhat independently to support research projects that take place predominantly within the single province. These provincial nodes are supported by provincial advisory committees that oversee the research related activities taking place in each provincial node. The MSSU has staff located in Halifax, Nova Scotia; Saint John, Fredericton, and Moncton, New Brunswick; and Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island.
The MSSU Research Assistant works under the direction of the Research Manager and supports the Senior Health Researcher(s) in the research activities of the MSSU. The Research Assistant is responsible for managing the administrative duties for multiple research projects simultaneously and is a contributing member of multi-disciplinary research teams.
The following are the primary responsibilities of the Research Assistant:
