We are looking for an action-oriented, curious, and well-organized Research Assistant to assist the McGill PBRN with a predominantly qualitative inquiry on the perspectives of clinical and patient stakeholders regarding the problems and potential solutions in the care trajectory of respiratory infections. The report is due by June 2023 and will inform the direction of a quality improvement strategy for respiratory infection care within the McGill University Integrated Health Care Network (RUISSS). The Research Assistant will manage project activities, support consultations, and take primary responsibility for compiling the report.
Position Summary:
The McGill PBRN is part of the McGill Department of Family Medicine located at 5858 Ch. C\xc3\xb4te des Neiges, Montreal. Our mission is to produce and apply research in partnership with clinicians, researchers, patients, and organizations to improve the quality of patient care. The PBRN is composed of 9 University-affiliated Family Medicine Groups (GMFU) and 2 private Family Medicine Groups (GMF), including 3 GMU outside of Montreal. The PBRN co-directors are Dr. Laura MacLaren (Clinical) and Prof. Jeannie Haggerty (Scientific). The patient partners co-leads are Lucie Lambert and Kim Freeman.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
Contribute to the development of appropriate documents for the execution (e.g., recruitment materials, interview guide, consultation agenda)
Participate in team meetings as well as any relevant meetings at clinical sites
Participate in training sessions as required in the methods used for this program of research
Follow up with participants (patients, clinicians, and managers) to support scheduling of interviews
Prepare materials for knowledge translation to patient partners
Arrange and conduct clinician interviews and support patient leads as facilitators of patient consultation
Compile results and conduct pragmatic qualitative analysis
Prepare summaries of findings
Assist with the preparation of the final report and presentation
Qualifications:
Training in an appropriate discipline (e.g., anthropology, sociology, health services research, health sciences, public health, health science education, nursing)
Bilingual (planning will be predominantly in English; interviews and interpretation of results in English and French; report can be in either English or French)
Good ability to plan and manage workload within tight deadlines
Some training and experience in qualitative research methodologies
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Evidence of excellent writing skills in English or French
The ability to work autonomously

The position is a hybrid role, with a mix of remote and on-site work. Team meetings will take place in the Department of Family Medicine Office (3rd Floor, 5858 Cote des Neiges), and data collection may require travel to participating sites.
