POSITION: Research Assistant

STATUS: Temporary; Casual - between March and May 2023 (approximately 6 weeks)

SHIFT: Variable hours (20 to 35 hours/wk.)

LOCATION: Remote

CLASSIFICATION: Exempt

WAGE: Hourly

About the Position:

Assist with conducting background research/analysis to inform the environmental scan work done as part of the strategic planning process for a large non-profit organization.

Some specific duties:

  • Review literature from internal and external sources; conduct an analysis to identify themes, opportunities/challenges, etc.
  • Analyze qualitative and quantitative survey data gathered from a variety of sources including staff, volunteers, donors, etc. Prepare documentation including themes, graphs, summaries, interpretations, etc.
  • Review demographic data from communities we operate in and cross-tabulate with other related data.
  • Prepare reports for review by Organizational Development Specialist and/or Executive.
  • Ensure all data and summary reports are appropriately filed.
  • Complete other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications you need to have:
  • Upper-level undergraduate courses in social science, health sciences, or similar with general knowledge and understanding of Social Science research methods (including qualitative and quantitative data analysis) plus minimum one (1) year related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience acceptable to the employer.
  • Related experience includes, but is not limited to:
  • Literature search, review, and analysis
  • Survey data analysis (mostly qualitative and summaries of quantitative data; no in-depth statistical analysis)
  • Interpretation and summary of survey data
  • Written reports based on data analysis
  • Experienced and confident with Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, Teams, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Previous experience with data analysis and reporting for Corporate or Business purposes.
  • Knowledge of Non-Profit Organizations and/or Animal Welfare Sector an asset.
  • Masters\' level research experience and/or previous experience with data analysis/report for corporate or business purposes desirable.
