Position Summary:

As a Research Assistant 2 in Prof. Stagg's lab, the incumbent will contribute to advanced biomedical research projects with minimal supervision, leveraging specialized expertise in immunological assays, flow cytometry, and preclinical cancer models. This role supports the full research lifecycle--from experimental design to data interpretation and dissemination--while contributing to innovation in methodology.
Contract period: 1- year contract from November 14, 2025 to November 13, 2026Conducts complex research projects using established and newly developed protocols, with minimal supervision. Applies specialized knowledge in immunology and oncology to ensure scientific rigor and relevance. Leads and assists in the design, development, and execution of experiments, including immune assays and flow cytometry. Oversees data collection, test administration, and laboratory procedures, ensuring accuracy and compliance with research standards. Recommends and implements improvements to existing research methods. Develops and validates new analytical techniques tailored to biotherapeutic testing in cancer models. Analyzes and interprets complex research data. Prepares detailed research reports and contributes to the dissemination of findings through presentations and publications. May author theoretical or methodological papers and articles related to immunological research and cancer therapeutics. Assists in the preparation and writing of grant applications, drawing on prior experience to support funding acquisition for innovative research initiatives. Maintains responsibility for the quality and integrity of their own work, ensuring reproducibility and compliance with ethical standards. Provides technical guidance and training to junior research staff, including Research Assistants, students, and technicians, fostering a collaborative and skilled research environment. Performs various administrative tasks related to project coordination, documentation, and compliance. May perform tasks typically assigned to Research Assistant 1, contributing flexibly to team needs.

Education & Experience:Possesses specialized knowledge of the field or discipline acquired through a Master's Degree. Candidates who have recently completed their PhD program will also be considered for this position.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:
Expertise in flow cytometry, immune assays and preclinical testing of biotherapeutics in cancer models.
Prior experience in:Planning the design and development of research methods, data collection and analysis, and the interpretation of results. Developing and implementing new methods of analysis or research. Writing research reports. Assisting in the preparation of grant applications.
Knowledge of French and English: McGill University is an English-language university where most teaching and research activities are conducted in the English language, thereby requiring English communication both verbally and in writing. The level of English required for this position has been assessed at a level #4 (qualifier) on a scale of 0-4.
