Job Description

The Geriatric Mental Health Services (GMHS) within the Complex Care and Recovery Program is currently seeking two (2) casual Research Assistant 1. GMHS is dedicated to the provision of specialized, interprofessional assessment, treatment, consultation, and follow-up services to older persons with mental illness and addiction. GMHS has a strong research focus component, aiming primarily to enhance understanding of the variability of treatment responses in older persons. Enabling tailored approaches to care for this population with medication and other treatments. Such approaches can then enhance treatment efficacy and reduce adverse experiences in the care of late life mental health disorders.

Position Description
In this position, your role will include a number of research responsibilities, these include: scheduling participant appointments, maintaining and obtaining informed consent, maintaining subject records and study logs, database entry, assist with data for presentations, reports, and peer-reviewed research papers. You will also be required to assist with other administrative duties. Within these functions, you will also be required to assist in recruitment of other GMHS-related studies through providing assistance with screening and other types of recruitment efforts employed within the department. You will also assist with scheduling, preparing, and escorting participants for laboratory visits, and MRI visits. Within these functions, you will also be required to assist with Regulatory submissions and progress reports. Other administrative duties are also required. You will support a healthy workplace that embraces diversity, encourages teamwork, and complies with all applicable regulatory and legislative requirements. This position is located at the 1025 Queen Street West.

Qualifications
The successful candidate must possess:

  • Secondary School and/or Specialty Courses
  • Experience working or volunteering in a health services or academic setting, an asset
  • Knowledge of PC software skills, including Microsoft Office (Word, Access, PowerPoint, and Excel), internet search engines, and database software packages
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication (oral/written), and organizational skills are required; along with the ability to collaborate effectively with team members
  • Excellent attention to detail and the ability to exercise initiative and good judgment is required for this position
  • Ability to multi-task and produce high-quality, accurate work in a fast-paced environment, while meeting program deadlines.
  • Ability to work effectively and efficiently in a variety of settings with individuals from diverse backgrounds
  • Bilingualism (French/English) and/or proficiency in a second language would be an asset.
Vaccines (COVID-19 and others) are a requirement of the job unless you have an exemption on a medical ground pursuant to the Ontario Human Rights Code.

Salary Range: $21.17 - $26.10 per hour
