We are dedicated to building a workforce that reflects the diversity of the public and the communities in which we live and serve.:Reporting to the Senior Data Solutions Integrator, Child Services, this position involves initiating, planning and conducting research studies on various topics, along with assisting managers and staff in the collection/retrieval, analysis and interpretation of information and demographics related to children and childcare.You will also be supporting work in the Policy and Planning Unit on various Divisional initiatives, including major policy initiatives that improve the equity, accessibility and quality of the childcare and early years\' system in Toronto. The team is multi- disciplinary. The Unit serves as a supportive arm for the Division to address and be responsive in the development and implementation of equitable policy.Major Responsibilities:

  • Provides economic and business information in response to both internal and external requests.
  • Develops and maintains data sets including, but not limited to business, financial, childcare and EarlyON mapping processes.
  • Inputs and develops reports, documents, proposals and correspondence as required by the Unit.
  • Compiles information packages and reports in support of Unit\'s activities.
  • Supports senior staff with special events and activities, coordinating seminars and meetings and attending functions as required to provide on-site assistance.
  • Establishing and maintaining electronic filing system related to business and operational statistics for the Unit and Division.
  • Develops and maintains databases of programs, services, facilities, and political representation.
  • Creates detailed maps, directories and dashboards.
  • Reports on demographics and related statistics on subjects such as children in the city.
  • Updates and maintains directories, statistics and communications used by all levels in the Division including management staff.
  • Responds to business related requests for information both from internal and external sources, including ad hoc requests.
  • Compiles and analyzes surveys used by the Division for Performance Measures purposes and for other internal monitoring procedures.
Key Qualifications:Your application must describe your qualifications as they relate to: * Post-Secondary Degree or Diploma in an area pertinent to the job function (i.e. Social Sciences, Statistics, Mathematics or Computer Science) or the approved equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
  • Experience with electronic database development, management and data manipulation.
  • Considerable experience with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Statistical Analysis System (SAS) or other programming languages.
  • Considerable experience in the application of a wide range of research methodologies and practices including gathering, summarizing, analyzing, synthesis and reporting (oral and written) of research findings.
  • Considerable experience with Geographic Information Systems (GIS).
You must also have:
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, in combination with a high level of initiative to perform duties under minimal supervision.
  • Knowledge of Child Care and Early Learning Sector as it pertains to Assessment for Quality Learning, Fee Subsidy, childcare programming and EarlyON and broader sector regulatory frameworks including Child Care and Early Years Act.
  • Excellent demonstrated organizational and research management skills.
  • Ability to represent the Division in a variety of situations and give presentations in group settings.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written skills to deal effectively with all levels of staff, elected officials, the public and members of external organizations.
  • Fundamental knowledge of research methodologies and practices and the ability to research, compile and analyze information, statistics and demographics.
  • Initiative and ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Thorough knowledge of relevant data, programs, services, and legislation.
  • Sound judgement in all matters including the handling of confidential and/or sensitive matters.
