Avalon Advanced Materials Inc. is a Canadian mineral development company headquartered in Toronto. We specialize in critical metals and minerals with growing demand in new technology. Avalon has five critical minerals project across Canada, providing investors with exposure to lithium, rare earths, cesium, tantalum, feldspars, tin and indium. We continue to evaluate opportunities to apply new extraction technology to recover rare earths and other metals from acid mine drainage at closed mine sites across North America, remediating outstanding environmental liability. The principles of sustainability are core values of Avalon, and we are a leader among junior miners in adopting best practices to reduce our environmental footprint, prevent water contamination and engage with local communities.

Here\xe2\x80\x99s what you will do as Research Analyst:

The Research Analyst will provide research support and assistance to the team, gathering critical information, including monitoring news, policy changes, trends and economic markets to then summarize data on companies, industry sectors and potential opportunities. The Research Analyst will compile data and findings to write summary reports, create visual representations of data and make presentations. More specifically, you will:
  • Gather critical information from meetings with various stakeholders and produce or assist in production of useful high-quality briefing notes, presentations, graphs, reports, workflow charts, etc.;
  • Document and effectively communicate insights to cross-functional team members and management;
  • Conduct research (i.e. competitor, market, pricing, industry, legislation / regulations, etc.) and produce high-quality information and insights;
  • Conduct insightful, ad hoc analyses and reporting on key trends in the minerals, mining and energy sector;
  • Maintain databases/spreadsheets of industry and company-specific data;
  • Attend business development and corporate affairs meetings and provide meeting support and assist in proposal development as required;
  • Keep up to date with industry trends, market developments, legislation / regulations etc.;
  • Other duties and special projects as assigned for the overall benefit of Avalon.
Here\xe2\x80\x99s what you\xe2\x80\x99ll need to be successful:

Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree in economics, engineering, business, corporate finance, or a related field;

1-3 years\xe2\x80\x99 research related experience, ideally in a small setting. Interest or experience in the minerals, mining and energy sector an asset;

Proficient in synthesizing large volumes of data (i.e. pricing data and industry trends) and developing succinct analysis and timely summaries;

Strong skills in developing high-quality briefing notes, presentations, graphs, reports, workflow charts, etc.;

Excellent analytical and research skills. Proven experience in research and analysis on key trends and current affairs;

Excellent skills in Microsoft Office suite, Adobe and sourcing internet-based data;

Excellent written and verbal communication skills;

Exceptional organizational skills with impeccable attention to detail and accuracy;

Self starter who can work both independently and collaboratively;

Able to maintain a high level of integrity and discretion in handling confidential information

Ability to work in a demanding and fast-paced work environment;

Flexibility to work evenings and weekends occasionally.
