Using your strong attention to detail and analytical skills, the Data Analyst works with a variety of hospital and Renal program information sources to extract, transform and analyze data. Reporting to the Director, Renal Program, the Renal Data Analyst will perform analyses, assessment, reporting and communication on the quality of various data holdings, including but not restricted to the Ontario Renal Network (ORN) and the Ontario Renal Reporting System (ORRS). Fostering relationships with stakeholders across the program and health system, you will develop expertise in health system datasets and data quality improvement processes. This position will focus on collaborating with Renal program stakeholders and data holdings. A self-motivated individual with exceptional analytical and interpersonal skills will excel in this position.
Accountabilities:
Act as a liaison and single point of contact between MOH, ORN and the organization for issues related to renal data holdings
Prepare monthly and quarterly ORRS submissions including pre-submission audits and test environment submissions
Expert knowledge regarding use of nephrology software programs i.e. Nephrocare and acts as a resource for staff and supports training of new program staff
Liaises with software vendors and internal IT department to identify, report, manage and troubleshoot software application issues ranging from system user functionality and data capture to data extraction and reporting
Assume responsibility for data quality and the creation of the renal program quality scorecard
Test new or changed data capture process reporting
Provide support to improve data quality and address issues by providing training and support to program staff related to the software applications used for data collection, documentation and external reporting
Formulate recommendations for continued improvement of data holdings including planning for future improvements
Review the range of data collection approaches and recommend the most appropriate approach and system for the Renal program
Prepare routine and ad hoc reports
Writes complex queries designed to gather information from a variety of different sources as required
Apply data audit control procedures to ensure data received from sources is accurate
Qualifications
Undergraduate degree in health information management, clinical informatics, health-related discipline or information technology; Masters preferred
Three to five years working in a health care environment with extensive experience in data quality management, data reporting/analysis and technical support
Knowledge of ORN data quality and reporting processes is an asset
Knowledge of Nephrocare software (or other nephrology software program) and Meditech is preferred
Knowledge of computerized/electronic systems involved in patient care
Advanced experience with the Microsoft Office Suite (Access and Excel)
Strong communication and organization skills
Demonstrates a high degree of initiative and self-direction
Demonstrated ability to be detailed and quality oriented
Aptitude for data analysis and interpretation
Experience in data mapping documents
Good oral and written communication skills
Excellent time management skills
Highly motivated, customer service focus
Ability to travel between all Osler sites as required

Hours: Currently days, 8 hour shift (subject to change in accordance with operational requirements)
Annual Salary:
Minimum: $79,521.00
Maximum: $99,391.50
