Job Description


:Position Summary:This position is responsible to ensure the validity of cash on hand and incoming and outgoing funds at all times and to support the Other Assistant Pari - Mutuel Managers in the overall operation of the Money Room.MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:

  • Verify Terminal Operator\'s cash shortages and calculate Federal overages
  • Verifying actual cash on hand totals
  • Verifying each divisional cash count
  • Mini-banking returns - check and verified
  • Preparing floats for specialty windows, admissions and mini banks
  • Assisting other Assistant Money Room Managers in all areas of verification of cash as required
  • Responding to-requests for cash draws and returns
  • verifying funds from non-mutuel revenue centres
  • Assisting mini-bankers and counting staff as required
  • Signing cheques and verifying cheque requisitions
  • Preparing Player\'s Written Requests Forms
  • Reconciling funds and preparing Money Room Cashiers statement
  • Preparing cheques for the annual processing and payment of outstanding ticket claims
  • Working knowledge of all equipment needed to operate the money room efficiently
  • Vault opening and closing
  • Reconciling cash, coin, cheques and mutilated bills for shipment to bank
  • Ensuring that correct cash shipment procedures are implemented and adhered to
  • Preparing work schedules and assigning duties to operations personnel to ensure efficient operation of the department
  • Liaising with Assistant Pari-Mutuel Managers/Manager to determine staffing level requirement
  • Assisting with employee training making recommendations on required equipment
  • Providing input to Assistant Pari-Mutuel Manager on areas of discipline and hiring, addressing complaints and resolving problems
  • Familiar with a full range of Mutuel services and acting as a reference point for Money Room Staff
  • Supervising Money Room Staff
  • Working on annual budgets to ensure operating costs are kept at minimum
  • Ensuring that all Money Room policies and procedures are followed in concert with the Mutuel and Finance departments
  • Recording and reporting any deviations-from standards to the Pari-Mutuel Manager
  • Working together with the other Assistant Managers as a team
  • Accurately preparing required reports (federal overages/shortages, payroll teller shortages and
daily balance report/head cashier statement)
  • Ordering supplies for the money room
  • Other duties as assigned
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS & ABILITIES:
  • Minimum Grade 12 education or equivalent
  • Experience working with cash and cashier statements
  • Knowledge of operations & regulations pertaining to cash handling
  • Good interpersonal and organizational abilities
  • Ability to work effectively without direct supervision; honesty / reliability
  • Ability to obtain Serving it Right certificate
  • Must successfully pass a criminal and credit record check by the Gaming and Policy Enforcement Branch (GPEB)
