Brain Injury Services Muskoka Simcoe is a community agency funded by Ontario Health Central Region. The agency offers a variety of community-based services for adults living with the long-term effects of an acquired brain injury.

BIS is seeking to hire a Full-time Rehabilitation Counsellor to work in our Community Outreach Program. The position is based in Barrie and requires daily travel throughout Simcoe County.

Duties:

Provide individualized 1-1 services to clients in their homes and communities Develop, plan and facilitate Group Programs (Virtual and On-Site) Work with clients to develop individual service plans that are client centered, goal focused, and outcome oriented Record and manage client information for the purposes of quality assurance and goal attainment Administer standardized assessments as required by the agency Risk management practices (infection control, hygiene, equipment maintenance, dietary restrictions, environmental audit etc.) Work collaboratively as part of a multi-disciplinary team

Based in our Barrie office, this job requires travel to/from Program Sites and individual clients within Simcoe County

Qualifications:

A degree or diploma in Recreation Therapy, Kinesiology, Psychology, Social Work or equivalent combination of education and experience

Minimum 2 years experience in a community setting

Experience working with individuals living with the effects of acquired brain injury Demonstrated knowledge of life skills and community reintegration principles Strong interpersonal, team, and documentation skills Current CPR, CPI, First Aid certification (or willing to obtain) Current Criminal Reference Check Knowledge of Health and Safety Legislation Demonstrated experience using computer software and including Microsoft Office Suite, virtual platforms Must have valid driver's license and reliable access to a vehicle
