Position Summary



The

Regulatory & Compliance Manager,

Environmental Services

, will oversee all environmental compliance and permitting matters related to our facilities and transportation networks with respect to hazardous materials collection, transportation, and disposal. This role ensures that all sites are fully compliant with provincial and federal legislation, regulatory approvals, and internal standards. The manager will be responsible for maintaining permits, managing reporting requirements, supporting site leadership with compliance obligations, and leading proactive initiatives to uphold our high standards of safety, environmental stewardship, and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities



Manage and maintain all government-issued permits, licenses, and approvals for regulated sites and activities. Ensure regulatory submissions and reporting are completed accurately and on time (e.g., annual reports, waste tracking, compliance reports). Liaise with provincial regulators, municipalities, consultants, and internal stakeholders on environmental and compliance matters. Develop and oversee compliance monitoring programs, including sampling programs, audits, inspections, and corrective actions. Provide regulatory interpretation and guidance to site leadership and operations teams. Lead the process for new site approvals, renewals, amendments, and public notice requirements. Review waste profiles and determine suitability. Track-governing body updates and regulatory changes and ensure business practices remain compliant. Train and mentor site managers and staff on compliance obligations and best practices. Collaborate cross-functionally to support environmental, health, and safety programs. Maintain accurate compliance records and documentation. Generate budgets for regulatory compliance activities and engage third parties where required.

Qualifications & Skills



Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field (equivalent experience will be considered). Minimum 5+ years of experience in regulatory compliance, permitting, or environmental management (waste or industrial sector preferred). Strong knowledge of government agency regulations, including permitting and reporting processes. Proven experience managing compliance across multiple sites. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage regulators, consultants, and internal teams. Strong organizational and project management abilities. Proficiency in compliance tracking systems and MS Office Suite. Ability to travel within Alberta and British Columbia as required.
