RVT with a small animal focus

What You'll Be Doing - Core Responsibilities
As a key member of our small animal care team, you'll play an essential role in both the medical and client-facing aspects of the hospital:
Technical and Clinical Care
Assist veterinarians with exams, diagnostics, and procedures
Monitor and maintain anesthesia during surgeries
Provide high-quality nursing care to hospitalized patients
Administer treatments, medications, and vaccinations
Perform lab work: blood draws, urinalysis, cytology, fecals and more.
Capture diagnostic radiographs and dental imaging
Conduct dental cleanings and assist in extractions as appropriate
Maintain sterile surgical environments and prep animals for surgery
Perform a variety of independent RVT appointments (e.g. vaccines, bloodwork, weight checks, injections, nail trims, client education)
Support preventive health by identifying patient needs and recommending services
Deliver empathetic and clear communication with clients
Educate pet owners on nutrition, parasite prevention, home care, and post-op recovery
Build trust-based, long-term relationships with clients and their pets
Maintain accurate medical records using
ezyVet
practice management software
Support inventory management and equipment maintenance
Ensure the clinic is clean, organized, and adheres to safety protocols
Uphold Fear-Free and low-stress handling techniques whenever possible
Skills & Qualifications
Must-Have
Registered as a Veterinary Technician in BC
1+ years of experience in small animal practice preferred
Confident in performing independent technician appointments
Strong clinical and technical skills with a proactive mindset
Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
Compassionate, confident, and team-oriented
Clear, professional verbal and written communication
Physical ability to lift 30-40 lbs and restrain patients safely
Nice-to-Have
Fear-Free certification or low-stress handling experience
Interest in dentistry, diagnostics, nutrition or client education
Familiarity with
ezyVet
software (or a willingness to learn quickly)
