Job Description

Steveston Veterinary Hospital is seeking a Registered Veterinary Technician to work directly along side on of the Doctors in our fast paced, 3.5 doctor practice. SVH has been family run for over 40 years and believes in providing high-quality medical care for our patients while also serving our clients with 5 star customer service.

This position is a Monday-Thursday 7:30am-6:00pm shift.

THE JOB ENTAILS

The skills that you will be utilizing include, but are not limited to:

Setting up and taking radiographs Hospitalized patient care, including monitoring and administering treatments Collecting and preparing samples for laboratory tests such as bloodwork, urinalysis, ear cytology and fecal exams Taking initial TPR and medical history of patients for appointments Maintaining accurate patient records Calculating dosages and administering medications at the direction of the Veterinarian Educating clients on nutrition and preventative care Preparing and explaining medications to go home Discussing treatment recommendations and estimates Performing treatments such as wound cleaning, ear cleaning, bandaging etc. Sedating and monitoring patients for various medical procedures
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE

Has a valid Registered Veterinary Technician Diploma A dedicated, hard-working individual with an optimistic, can-do attitude Extremely empathetic and patient with pets and owners Responsible and reliable team-player Strong customer service and care A desire to improve their current skills as well as learn new ones Must have experience working in the veterinary industry or equivalent related experience, and completion of the RVT program is required
