Registered Social Worker, Team-Based Care

The Registered Social Worker (RSW) is a key clinical member within the Walk-In Team, supporting team-based care for CUPS clients. You will guide and mentor interdisciplinary team members, including new staff and practicum students, in trauma-informed, anti-oppressive, and ethical practice.

The RSW leads case conferences for clients with complex needs, provides clinical consultation, and facilitates internal workshops to build team knowledge of community resources and service navigation. Your leadership will strengthen team cohesion and enhance the quality of care delivered to clients facing multiple barriers.

Key Responsibilities



Create an approachable, caring and trauma-informed environment for clients in each interaction. Serve as a key clinical member and leader within the Walk-In Team, supporting team-based care for CUPS clients. Promote, and model CUPS team-based care approach and ensure the integrity of CUPS client care philosophy is maintained. Participate in the CUPS mission to support the learning and development of new professionals, including practicum students, through preceptorship activities and support the education and training of all learners stationed within CUPS. Lead case conferences for clients with complex needs to ensure comprehensive and coordinated care planning. Offer clinical consultation to team members to support best practices and informed decision making. Facilitate internal workshops focused on building team knowledge of community resources and effective service navigation. Foster team cohesion through leadership and collaboration to enhance quality of care. Demonstrate a commitment to best practice and evidence-based medical care through participation in quality improvement work. Exercise clinical judgment and autonomy in risk assessment, care planning, and decision-making. Participate in crisis response and provide leadership during team debriefs and case reviews.

Employment requirements



Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) or a Diploma of Social Work from an accredited institution required. Candidates with a Diploma of Social Work require 5+ years of experience, and a candidate with a BSW requires 2+ years of experience. Active registration and good standing with the applicable regulatory body (e.g., Alberta College of Social Workers) an asset. Eligibility to register with the Alberta College of Social Workers will be considered.

What you bring:



Experience in front-line work, preferably in a community health or social services setting. Experience working with individuals facing multiple barriers such as poverty, homelessness, mental health challenges, substance use, and trauma. Demonstrated experience in interdisciplinary, team-based care environments and ability to work independently. Strong understanding of trauma-informed care, Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) and the socio-environmental determinants of health. Skilled in clinical judgment, care planning, crisis intervention, and risk assessment. Knowledge of systems navigation across housing, healthcare, income support, and legal sectors. Excellent communication, documentation, and advocacy skills, including the ability to write professional support letters for client needs. Ability to analyze data and contribute to outcome measurement and program evaluation. Experience facilitating staff training or external capacity-building sessions. Knowledge of community-based resources in Calgary.
