Your Opportunity:

Wetaskiwin Hospital and Care Centre (WHCC) has an exciting opportunity for a Registered Nurse (RN) in Unit 33. Wetaskiwin Hospital and Care Centre is a large rural hospital with 3 inpatient units ranging from 16 - 27 beds. The facility also includes an Emergency department, Operating Rooms, an Obstetrical unit, and other community outpatient programs such as Endoscopy, rehabilitation services, Laboratory and Diagnostic Imaging. Reporting to the Unit Manager, the Registered Nurse works within a multi-disciplinary team, providing services on the unit which meet the needs of patients. Wetaskiwin is located 70 km south of Edmonton in the heart of Central Alberta. The city's name comes from the Cree word, which means "the hills where peace was made". You can take a self-guided tour through the historic downtown and read about the peace cairn that commemorates sixty years of peace between the Blackfoot and the Cree. Wetaskiwin has an extensive trail system that leads you around the entire city with a direct connection to By-the-Lake Park. Year-round markets provide citizens and visitors with fresh fruit, produce and many different homemade items. The Manluk Centre offers swim lessons, fitness programs and Aquatic Leadership courses, as well as party facilities. There's always something to do in Wetaskiwin!

Description:

As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). Additional Required Qualifications:

As Required. Preferred Qualifications:

Baccalaureate degree in nursing preferred; however, skills and experience relevant to nursing practice in the community sector will be considered. Advanced Cardiac Life Support and Canadian Triage and Acuity Scale. 1 year experience in Acute Care.
