Wetaskiwin has an exciting opportunity with a Registered Nurse position on their acute care units! Wetaskiwin is a large rural hospital and you will have the opportunity to work on all four acute care units with this position based on unit 35. The acute care units range from 12 to 28 beds with the prospect of working both surgical and medical.. Wetaskiwin is located 70 km south of Edmonton in the heart of Central Alberta. The city name comes from the Cree word which means “the hills where peace was made”. You can take a self-guided tour through the historic downtown and read about the peace cairn that commemorates sixty years of peace between the Blackfoot and the Cree. Wetaskiwin has an extensive trail system that leads you around the entire city with a direct connection to By-the-Lake Park. Year round markets provide citizens and visitors with fresh fruit, produce and many different home made items. The Manluk Centre offers swim lessons, fitness programs and Aquatic Leadership courses, as well as party facilities. There’s always something to do in Wetaskiwin!

As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.
