Reporting to the Clinical Coordinator, the Registered Nurse works between the Acute Care Unit and the Emergency Department as required; provides professional nursing care to patients as a member of a multidisciplinary team; is responsible and accountable for coordinating and administering direct patient care utilizing the nursing process; provides direction to staff and volunteers; and responds to emergency situations to safeguard patients, visitors and staff in accordance with the unit/program philosophy, competency guidelines, policies, and the BC College of Nurses and Midwives professional and practice standards..

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education, Training And Experience

Current practicing registration with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives. Advanced preparation in emergency and/or obstetrics specialty training. Two (2) years\' recent related experience in medical/surgical, obstetrics, emergency/urgent care, neonatal resuscitation, emergency pediatrics or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required.

  • Ability to apply the nursing process effectively in a well-organized manner to the care of assigned patients.
  • Ability to physically perform the duties of the position.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to deal effectively with a variety of internal and external contacts including co-workers, physicians, community agencies, representatives, patients/clients/residents and families.
  • Ability to remain calm and to act appropriately in stressful and emergency situations.

RNs hired at Lady Minto Hospital need to be ER trained and know that they will work on both the Acute Care Unit and in the ER. Additional Clauses

RURAL/REMOTE INCENTIVE: This position may qualify for our Rural and Remote Incentive: 1. $10,000 after employment in position commences, in exchange for 2-year Return of Service Commitment. 2. A potential additional payment of $5,000 in year 3, in exchange for a further 1-year Return of Service Commitment. 3. Guaranteed Regular employment for 5 years, at starting FTE. 4. Up to $2,000 per year reimbursement of professional development fees (to a max of $8,000) Ask us for details on this exciting new incentive!
