Work, travel, and explore the culturally rich province of Newfoundland!

Mental Health Nurses (MHN) are needed for travel assignments to Newfoundland\xe2\x80\x99s Central Region.

You are responsible for assessment, nursing diagnosis, developing and implementing a care plan, and evaluating mental health nursing care. In addition, MHNs provide crisis intervention and counselling and life skills programming to patients.

We are looking for nurses who can deploy for at least 60 days (or longer).

QUALIFICATIONS NEEDED:

  • Certifications required:
  • Diploma/Degree (RN) and proof of good standing with the governing body of your province.
  • Certification in Psychiatric / Mental Health Nursing from the Canadian Nurses Association
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS)
  • Experience in nursing practice performing various mental health nursing activities such as supportive psychotherapy, cognitive behavioural therapy, solution-focused therapy, counselling, and crisis intervention or management in an adult community setting for clients suffering from mental illnesses or psycho-social difficulties.
  • The ability to recognize, intervene, and de-escalate clinical and psychosocial situations and manage behaviours is required.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of patient and family-centred care
  • Proficient clinical skills in assessment, physical examination, and nursing intervention
  • Ability to establish relationships based on mutual respect and trust.
  • Ability to exercise independent judgement and recognize when consultation is needed.
  • Microsoft Windows-based programs competency.
  • Ability to respect and promote a culturally diverse population.
  • Provide proof of Covid-19 vaccination as per provincial Covid-19 Immunization and Management Policy. (All hires must have received a complete dose series of a COVID-19 vaccine approved by Health Canada within 14 days before the start date)
Criminal records and vulnerable sector checks will be required as a highly sensitive position.
