The Registered Nurse (RN) position functions as a member of the Red Deer Opioid Dependency Program (ODP), and interdisciplinary health and treatment team. The incumbent will be responsible for ensuring their practice and documentation is in line with the Community Protection and Opioid Stewardship Standards and current best practices. The RN is responsible for assessment, supervision, medication preparation, including dispensing oral opioid agonist medications and medical intervention as required (BLS, overdose response, stimulant intoxication response). With virtual and/or on-site physician support, the RN will supervise self-administration of prescribed medication for individuals accessing the ODP. The RN will complete post consumption monitoring, including assessment for adverse effects. The RN will be a case manager for individuals accessing the ODP including daily engagement with program participants and engaging in development and review of treatment plans. The Registered Nurse may be required to complete phlebotomy, vaccinations, and ECGs as required. Additionally, the Registered Nurse will provide support in maintaining triplicate prescription profiles for the ODP. The Registered Nurse will provide training and dispensing of Naloxone kits as part of the Community Naloxone Program. The RN will collaborate with community agencies and external medical and social service providers to coordinate optimal client care delivery and provide informed referrals for recovery-orientated interventions.

Upon being entered into the register of Registered Nurses, the rate of pay shall be adjusted to the rate of pay applicable to a Registered Nurse in accordance with AHS/UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii) as applicable.
