Your Opportunity:

Red Deer Regional Hospital is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse with the peri-operative course (preferred) for their busy surgical unit. This OR Nurse role acts as a patient advocate, providing a link between the patient care unit and the Operating Room. As the Operating Room (OR) Nurse at Red Deer Regional Hospital, you are an integral part of the surgical team, responsible for providing comprehensive perioperative patient care using the nursing process in accordance with CRNA, Operating Room Nurses Association of Canada (ORNAC), and CSA standards of practice. You will deliver safe, effective and efficient care in both the scrub and circulating roles. To be successful in this position you must collaborate within the expectations of a highly complex integrated team and be able to perform consistently in a highly organized, rapid moving, and complex and highly specialized environment. You must demonstrate advanced critical thinking, good judgment, expert problem-solving skills and exceptional communication skills. This role can be physical demanding as you may be required to stand scrubbed for many hours as well as wear a lead apron for protection.

Description:

As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit Holders shall be paid $35.17/hour - $42.96/hour ($35.87/hour - $43.82/hour effective April 1, 2023). Upon being entered into the register of Registered Nurses, the rate of pay shall be adjusted to the rate of pay applicable to a Registered Nurse in accordance with AHS/UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii) as applicable. Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). Additional Required Qualifications:

Successful completion of a Peri-operative Nursing course or minimum two years of OR experience. Preferred Qualifications:

Peri-Operative CPN(C). Previous PACU experience.
