Your Opportunity:

The Registered Nurse position functions as a member of the Red Deer Overdose Prevention Site, and interdisciplinary health and treatment team. The incumbent will be responsible for ensuring their practice and documentation is in line with the Community Protection and Opioid Stewardship Standards and current best practices. Under the direction of the Manager, this position is responsible for providing public health interventions within a harm reduction model at a supervised consumption site. The role includes comprehensive physical and mental health assessments, delivery of harm reduction supplies, supervised consumption clinical interventions (e.g., overdose response), naloxone distribution, health education and support, and referrals to other health & social services. Other duties may include distribution of safer sex and drug use supplies, and basic wound care. The Registered Nurse is additionally responsible to work in charge of the site after hours and works as the designate of the Manager when the Manger is not available.

Description:

As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit Holders shall be paid $35.17/hour - $42.96/hour ($35.87/hour - $43.82/hour effective April 1, 2023). Upon being entered into the register of Registered Nurses, the rate of pay shall be adjusted to the rate of pay applicable to a Registered Nurse in accordance with AHS/UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii) as applicable. Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). Additional Required Qualifications:

Two years\' experience working in Supervised Consumption. Experience working in an In Charge Capacity. Expert knowledge of co-occurring health needs (addiction and mental health) is required. Current Heart and Stroke Foundation (HSF) Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers; Employer-provided training in Non-Violent Crisis Intervention; Knowledge of and ability to apply the principles of trauma informed care in all interactions with clients. It is also a requirement that the incumbent is physically able to respond to behavioural/clinical emergencies that may occur anywhere in the building. Preferred Qualifications:
