If you're looking to make a difference in the lives of Albertans and have an impact on the healthcare they receive, the position of a Palliative Care Resource Nurse (PCRN) with our team could be for you. As a Registered Nurse - Palliative Care Resource, you will function as a member of an interdisciplinary healthcare team in acute care, continuing care and home care settings to provide specialized assessment and intervention on a consultative and limited direct service basis. You will be responsible for working collaboratively with health care professionals, physician consultants, primary care physicians, patients and families along the continuum of care to ensure the provision of quality palliative care services follows evidence-based best practices. This position is based on working out of Peace River, with service being provided to Manning, Worsley, Grimshaw and Fairview. In addition to a competitive rate of pay, Alberta Health Services currently has a Remote Retention Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $3,000. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay.

As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). Additional Required Qualifications:

A minimum of five (5) years of nursing experience with two (2) years of Palliative Care experience within the last 10 years. Commitment to continuing education in Palliative Care and to significantly expand knowledge and skills in a short time. Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to lead a team and promote collaboration and partnership. Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in at least two (2) care sectors, including Home Care. Case Management Education. CNA Certification in Hospice Palliative Care or willingness to obtain. Demonstrated abilities in program planning, education of adults, interdisciplinary practice and research activities and experience in the delivery of care in the community setting. Familiarity with using a PC, Internet, Meditech, Connect Care and Microsoft Office applications.
