Position Summary:
Reporting to the Manager – the Pre-Op Clinic RN collaborates with the inter-professional team to provide nursing practice that is consistent with professional standards and the ethical framework as outlined by the College of Nurses of Ontario.

Pre-Op Clinic nursing care includes: preoperative teaching which includes preoperative preparation (knowledge of different surgeries and the relevant preparation), review of patient’s health assessment, medication reconciliation, ordering appropriate tests according to the medical directive.

Qualifications:

• 
  Candidate will be a graduate of a recognized College or School of Nursing and preferably hold a Baccalaureate degree.
• 
  Current certification or eligibility for Certification of Competence from the College of Nurses of Ontario is required.
• 
  Minimum of 5 years of General Surgical experience is required
• 
  Previous pre-op assessment clinic experience is preferred
• 
  Ability to think critically and effectively in order to prioritize needs in emergency situations
• 
  Highly effective decision making, problem solving and organizational skills combined with excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written
• 
  Evidence of on-going professional development is preferred
• 
  Satisfactory attendance and performance required
