Your Opportunity:

We are looking for a Registered Nurse/Registered Psychiatric Nurse with experience in patient-centered, trauma-informed, and recovery-based care for the Addiction and Mental Health Adult Outreach Team. This position is based out of the Regional Resource Center in Medicine Hat and will provide concurrent support to individuals who require treatment in place for a variety of medical conditions, including chronic disease, acute wound care and STBBI testing/treatment. This position will also include being a lead educator for staff, clients and community stakeholders for naloxone administration training and naloxone kit distribution. Services will be community-based and recovery-oriented towards adults experiencing complex addiction and/or mental health issues and homelessness. You will work in collaboration with community partner teams, both AHS and non-AHS based, to collaboratively provide care to individuals whose lives have been impacted by unstable housing, socioeconomic factors, and substances. Working within the RN scope of practice, you will provide consultative assessments and intakes for clients to determine physical and mental health stability, complete thorough health assessments, treatment planning, case management, and monitoring of both patient physical and addiction/mental health issues. You will demonstrate a knowledgeable and caring clinical practice that is grounded in addiction and mental health nursing from a recovery-oriented perspective; have strong communication and interpersonal skills; demonstrate time management, independent decision-making, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills; and an ability to foster positive relationships within a team environment are all expectations of this role. Description:

As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit Holders shall be paid $35.87/hour - $43.82/hour. Upon being entered into the register of Registered Nurses, the rate of pay shall be adjusted to the rate of pay applicable to a Registered Nurse in accordance with AHS/UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii) as applicable. Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, completion of the following free courses are required: CRNA Medication Administration Certificate (https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/%2Flearning-and-development%2Flearning-modules%2F) and the NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification (https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271#section-0) Additional Required Qualifications:

Demonstrated ability to work independently. Experience working with vulnerable populations. Recent 3 years of experience working with clients with Addiction & Mental Health issues. Experience providing outreach care for 2-3 years. Experience with opioid poisoning prevention and response; naloxone administration training. Preferred Qualifications:

Strong communication and interpersonal skills; demonstrated effective time management, case management experience, independent decision-making, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills; and an ability to foster positive relationships within a team environment are all expectations of this role. NVCI and suicide intervention training required.
