About the role

The work of a Registered Nurse is integral to Canadian Blood Services\' role as Canada\'s Lifeline. In this role, you will be performing duties related to the collection of blood (whole blood, autologous, directed, apheresis blood components), and sample collections as requested at permanent, mobile and satellite sites in a professional and courteous manner.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Performing donor assessment/health screening procedures to determine donor eligibility status
  • Performing phlebotomy for whole blood and apheresis, as required
  • Providing generalized assistance and support to the Donor Centre
  • Delivering outstanding customer service
Qualifications:
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program is required
  • Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in Ontario
  • Two years previous nursing experience preferred
  • Ability to communicate effectively with staff, donors and volunteers
  • Ability to establish priorities and organize workload
  • Strong customer service orientation
  • Must be flexible to accommodate assigned shifts which are based on operational needs; it can include days, evenings, weekends and holidays
