Position Summary

The Registered Nurse Regional Women and Children Program (RWCP) Float Team will be comprised of Registered Nurses who will be responsible to provide nursing resources and specialty direct patient care for patients in Paediatrics, Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and Obstetrics.

The RWCP Float Nurses will be responsible for responding to increasing acuity needs in the above departments, in collaboration with the Resource Nurse and/or Program Manager.

Qualifications

  • Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) as Registered Nurse
  • Current BCLS Certification required
  • Current Neonatal Resuscitation Provider certificate required
  • Paediatric Advanced Life Support required
  • Breastfeeding certificate required
  • Minimum of one (1) year experience working in a paediatrics department/with newborns in a Level 2 or 3 or combined care unit required.
  • Minimum of one (1) year experience working in an obstetrics department/antenatal triage/labour and delivery/combined care unit in a level 2 or 3 center required.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with flexibility under ever changing environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to organize, prioritize and multi task efficiently.
  • Demonstrated ability to care for complex patients within an interprofessional team.
  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
  • Demonstrated skill in patient education and promotion of patient independence using principles of adult learning.
  • Demonstrated appreciation and respect for protocol, professionalism, and confidentiality.
  • Demonstrated accountability for decision-making.
  • Demonstrates commitment to continued professional and personal growth and development through Continuing Education Programs and Self Directed Learning Opportunities.
