Your Opportunity:

This is an opportunity for a Registered Nurse to work in the Cardiothoracic Intensive Care Unit caring for patients following cardiac surgery, heart, lung and heart/lung transplant surgery. The nurse, as a member of the multidisciplinary team, is responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient care. Decisions are made in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team.

Description:

As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit Holders shall be paid $35.17/hour - $42.96/hour. Upon being entered into the register of Registered Nurses, the rate of pay shall be adjusted to the rate of pay applicable to a Registered Nurse in accordance with AHS/UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii) as applicable. Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). Additional Required Qualifications:

One to two years recent Cardiothoracic ICU knowledge and skills with the ability to apply them in the clinical setting required. Applicant must have completed the OPACCA program or equivalent Critical Care certification. Current certification in CRRT (Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy), IHD (Intermittent Hemodialysis), IABP (Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump), Heartmate II & III, Heartware, Centrimag and ECMO is required. Charge RN experience in CVICU required. Applicant must demonstrate excellent assessment, documentation, clinical, organizational and patient care skills. Applicant must have the ability to communicate findings in a concise and accurate manner as well as strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills. Must be able to identify own learning needs and seek guidance in professional practice where knowledge deficits occur. Must be able to demonstrate the application of all 3A8 advanced certifications. Applicant must successfully pass the CVICU Unit specific exam. Preferred Qualifications:
