Your Opportunity:

Reporting directly to the Unit Manager within the Ambulatory Care Program at the Royal Alexandra Hospital , you will have the opportunity to support the goals and activities of the Outpatient IV Clinic. The clinic provides both short and long term support to patients and families who require a wide variety of IV therapy treatments as part of their outpatient treatment plan. The successful incumbent will exercise sound judgment and be able to work effectively in stressful/emergent situations within a very busy and fast paced environment. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are a necessity with the ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with other care providers both within the clinic team and outside referring sources. Evidence of strong decision making and assessment skills are essential along with exceptional written and verbal interpersonal communication skills.

Description:

As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit Holders shall be paid $35.17/hour - $42.96/hour ($35.87/hour - $43.82/hour effective April 1, 2023). Upon being entered into the register of Registered Nurses, the rate of pay shall be adjusted to the rate of pay applicable to a Registered Nurse in accordance with AHS/UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii) as applicable. Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). Additional Required Qualifications:

Active registration and practice permit with the College and Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Graduation from a recognized nursing education program. Current BCLS- HCP required. Certification in IV initiation and IV push medications with demonstrated clinical expertise. Expertise with peripheral lines and blood withdrawal Certification in Central Line Care with demonstrated clinical expertise. Experience with venipuncture and CVAD blood draw Blood glucose monitoring certification PICC removal. Huber needle insertion and removal for implanted vascular access devices (e.g. Port-a-Cath). Responsible to provide proof of active registration with the College & Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA) and to maintain registration throughout out the duration of employment. Preferred Qualifications:

Recent Acute Care experience and/or Ambulatory Clinic will be preferred. Baccalaureate degree in nursing preferred. Experience with Connect Care and other MS Office Suite applications including Teams . Therapeutic phlebotomy preferred. PICC line insertion preferred. Removal of short term percutaneously inserted CVC (e.g. triple lumen CVC) preferred.
