Registered Nurse

Edmonton, AB, Canada

Job Description

Your Opportunity:

Corrections Health offers health services to patients held in remand and provincial correctional centres. This population often has complex health issues, requiring health care services while in custody, and assistance upon release. While challenging, working in corrections allows staff to provide service to a marginalized population that is very rewarding to work with. Reporting to the manager of Addictions and Mental Health, the successful applicant will provide nursing assessment, diagnosis, intervention and treatment as indicated to clients in the centre. The successful applicant will also evaluate the effectiveness of interventions on an ongoing basis and respond as appropriate to promote positive client responses and outcomes. Additionally, the successful applicant will participate in providing psychoeducational groups to clients at the centre. Previous experience working with clients in addictions and mental health will be an asset in this position, as well as experience with marginalized and incarcerated populations. The ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively is essential. The successful applicant must be able to triage his or her work in order to provide the most effective level of service possible. Alberta Health Services\' core values - compassion, accountability, respect, excellence and safety - guide our actions and behaviours to achieve excellent patient- and family-centered healthcare for all Albertans.
