Your Opportunity:

The Edmonton Zone, Continuing Care, Facility and Supportive Living program is recruiting a dynamic Registered Nurse (RN) to join our unique Direct Nursing Services team. The team is a small, cohesive group of specially trained nurses who provide services to residents with complicated health needs. Care is delivered within community-based facilities throughout the AHS Edmonton Zone. As the successful incumbent, you will be given any additional training required to carry out the role. Furthermore, there are opportunities to experience and learn new skills that you may not have been exposed to in previous roles. Key Responsibilities & Competencies Initial and ongoing clinical assessments and service DELIVERY. For example, Home Parenteral Therapy and PICC management; advanced wound management; comprehensive lower leg assessments and wrapping; catheter and drain management. Support frontline teams - internal and external to AHS- to safely manage resident clinical care needs through in-time education and management plans. Maintain records and documentation and per licensing body and AHS policy. Maintain clinical competencies for all necessary skills; identify when support to grow or maintain a skill is required.

As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit Holders shall be paid $35.17/hour - $42.96/hour ($35.87/hour - $43.82/hour effective April 1, 2023). Upon being entered into the register of Registered Nurses, the rate of pay shall be adjusted to the rate of pay applicable to a Registered Nurse in accordance with AHS/UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii) as applicable. Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). Additional Required Qualifications:

Class 5 driver\'s license or non GDL. and a motor vehicle for work related travel. Ability to pull/carry/lift a roller bag with equipment/ a backpack with equipment- approximately 15lbs. Ability to lift resident limbs for assessments and treatment: limbs can vary in weight (some may be 30lbs. and up depending on the resident). Ability to be on the ground completing assessments and wrapping lower limbs. This work is done in resident suites. Knowledge and experience in managing a range of wound etiologies. Demonstrated ability to provide comprehensive assessments of individuals within their physical and social environments. Sound clinical judgment, critical thinking, and decision-making skills: You will be expected to work to your full scope of practice using your well-developed clinical knowledge and experience. Ability to work autonomously in the community setting. Exceptional interpersonal skills, including peaceful conflict management and problem solving. Strong written, verbal and non-verbal communication skills. The understanding of resident and family centered approach to care. Openness and willingness to be coached by the team and leadership, when required. Preferred Qualifications:

Three years of community nursing experience - obtained within the last five years. Geriatric experience- GNC(C) is an asset. Knowledge of and skills in case management. Experience with Pixalere and/or MEDITECH, and/or Connect Care. Experience educating frontline teams on clinical nursing skills. Experience working on a fast paced, cohesive team.
