Your Opportunity:

Unit 59 is an in-patient vascular, oral maxillary, ENT, plastic surgery and podiatry-focused surgical unit. In collaboration with the multi-disciplinary health care team, the Registered Nurse (RN) provides a professional, caring and comprehensive approach to the surgical and medical patient. The Registered Nurse provides leadership in nursing assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care for patients and families on Unit 58 to promote, maintain or restore health, illness and safety prevention. PLC Unit 59 maintains an excellent relationship with their \xe2\x80\x9csister unit\xe2\x80\x9d Vascular Special Care Unit 58. There may be instances where the successful candidate is asked to assist Unit 58.

Description:

As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit Holders shall be paid $35.87/hour - $43.82/hour. Upon being entered into the register of Registered Nurses, the rate of pay shall be adjusted to the rate of pay applicable to a Registered Nurse in accordance with AHS/UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii) as applicable. Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). Additional Required Qualifications:

Minimum 1-year recent (within 2 years) surgical nursing experience. Understanding of CoAct and collaborative care in the acute care setting. Compliance with the AHS Hand Hygiene policies. Basic knowledge of computers and software applications (i.e. Microsoft Office). Strong patient teaching skills. Ability to be self-directed and exercises independent decision-making, nursing judgment and critical thinking skills. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to effectively maintain collaborative working rules. Preferred Qualifications:

Baccalaureate degree in nursing preferred; however, skills and experience relevant to nursing practice in the community sector will be considered. Peripheral vascular, Oral Max, ENT and Plastic surgery nursing experience. Current IV, CVC, epidural, and PCA certifications. Previous complex would care including negative pressure.
