Your Opportunity:

An exciting opportunity exists to grow and strengthen your skills and work at your full scope of practice as a License Practical Nurse within a collaborative team at the Peter Lougheed Centre. Unit 32 General Medicine is a temporary inpatient medical unit sharing space with Unit 32 post-partum. There are 12 beds dedicated to general medicine, and you will be responsible for caring for medical inpatients and providing excellent patient and family-centred care supporting the acute care needs of our patients. Unit 32 General Medicine will be working very closely with Unit 39/Unit 38 Internal medicine units and will be expected to help support these units when needed. Once Unit 32 General Medicine beds close, you will be transferred to Peter Lougheed Centre Unit 39 Pulmonary/Internal Medicine and maintain a permanent position. As the successful candidate, you will demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively maintain collaborative working relationships with members of the multidisciplinary team; decision-making, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills using sound nursing judgment; patient advocacy and patient teaching skills; time management and prioritization skills; conflict resolution skills and foster a positive teamwork environment. As a Registered Nurse (RN), you are part of an interprofessional health care team utilizing nursing processes, critical thinking, problem-solving and decision-making skills. You will be guided by your education, experience, demonstrated skill level and Alberta Health Services policies and procedures.

Description:

As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit Holders shall be paid $35.17/hour - $42.96/hour. Upon being entered into the register of Registered Nurses, the rate of pay shall be adjusted to the rate of pay applicable to a Registered Nurse in accordance with AHS/UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii) as applicable. Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). Additional Required Qualifications:

Recent experience on acute care medicine/surgical inpatient units in past year. Preferred Qualifications:

1 year nursing experience within the last 3 years in an acute care (medical/surgical) unit. Recent charge nurse experience within past year. Experience with Connect Care acute adult inpatients. Central venous catheter (CVC) certification. Completion of Annual Compulsory Education. N95 Fit Tested. It\'s Your Move certification.
