Your Opportunity:

The Registered Nurse (RN) in Short Stay cardiology (SSC) works collaboratively and cohesively within a multidisciplinary environment in a fast-paced environment. Primary responsibilities in SSC include caring for patients before and after diagnostic and interventional heart catheterization procedures, invasive structural heart procedures, pacemaker implants, ICDs, TEEs, electrophysiology/ablation procedures, and cardioversions. The regularized relief position needs to be flexible with covering vacancies in SSC to help provide optimal coverage. Provides patient teaching and offers reassurance throughout pre/post phases of the procedure. Monitors, reports and records cardiovascular and hemodynamic status and medication administration. Obtains and maintains hemostasis to venous and arterial access sites - radial, brachial, and femoral.

In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). Additional Required Qualifications:

Minimum 1 year nursing experience in acute medical nursing unit. Current ACLS certification. This RN position includes the following physical requirements: being on one's feet for extended periods of time (including walking/standing), exposure to infectious diseases, and hazardous situations for which they are trained; be able to assist in transporting, lifting and positioning of patients; be able to bend, lift, push, and pull equipment. Preferred Qualifications:

Baccalaureate degree in nursing preferred; however, skills and experience relevant to nursing practice in the community sector will be considered. Short Stay Cardiology experience. Cardiology or Cath lab experience. Critical care or emergency experience. Arterial/Femoral sheath femoral removal experience. Up to date Annual compulsory education courses (please bring copy of MLL to interview).
