Unit 49 provides inpatient care for Cardiology and Acute Medical patients. This unit fosters a strong collaborative team environment with Nurses, Physicians, Allied Health Professionals and Support Workers. Unit 49 at the Peter Lougheed Centre Centre maintains an excellent relationship with Unit 48, a Cardiac Care Unit (CCU). Reporting to the Unit Manager, the Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for providing care to Cardiology, MTU and hospitalist patients while showing leadership within the multidisciplinary team. The successful candidate should be committed to providing open communication and feedback with respect for all, care providers, patients and families. This position provides leadership in the education of patients and their families. Additionally, this position requires the successful candidate to work 12 hour shifts.

Description:

As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). Additional Required Qualifications:

Knowledge and experience in the administration of central lines and direct intravenous medications (IV push) required. Preferred Qualifications:

3 - 5 years' experience within the last 2 years in acute medical/cardiovascular nursing. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to effectively maintain collaborative working relationships with members of the multidisciplinary team. Excellent time management and prioritization skills, with a demonstrated ability to function effectively within a dynamic environment.
