Brooks Long Term Care-Main is a 24 bed unit in a beautiful facility with a large dining room and atrium. The brand new Long Term Care-Sub unit includes 15 Community Transition beds with a Palliative care focus. Were are in a rural setting where the Registered Nurse - Long Term Care Main and Sub works as a charge nurse, with a multidisciplinary team approach providing family centered care to residents and clients. As a member of the CoAct team you will be responsible for the assessment, design, and implementation of continuing care services for a caseload of clients residing in this setting. The RN will play a key role in resident care planning (interdisciplinary including resident and family) and allowing resident to achieve their goals and enhance their quality of life. This environment is suitable for candidates who have a strong interest and skills in providing care to the elderly client. Using the principles of patient and family centred care, you will work collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team and client to develop individualized care plans and support the client in meeting their care goals. In addition, you will demonstrate strong critical thinking skills, the ability to prioritize competing demands and exceptional communication skills to build and foster strong interpersonal relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Brooks is a hub of Southern Alberta and has a multi-cultural flare. Located 1hr from Medicine Hat and 2 hours from Calgary. This position qualifies for the Canada Student Loan Forgiveness Program, which reimburses $4,000 per year (up to a maximum of 5 years) for working in the rural Brooks setting.

As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Required Qualifications: Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College and Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CARNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). Additional Required Qualifications: Familiarity with the Continuing Care Health Service Standards (CCHSS) and Accommodation Standards. Please note, this facility provides Long Term Care (LTC) or Designated Supportive Living (DSL) services and by Order of the Chief Medical Officer of Health, many AHS employees are restricted to work only at a single LTC/DSL site for the remainder of the pandemic. Speak to the hiring manager who will confirm if, as the successful candidate in this position, you will be restricted to work at only one LTC/DLS site in Alberta. Preferred Qualifications: Minimum of one (1) year experience in Long Term Care or Supportive living experience preferred. Supportive Pathway Training.
