As a member of the interdisciplinary team, the incumbent will focus on improving clinical outcomes and standards of care for cardiac patients with a focus on Arrhythmia illnesses through patient assessment, follow-up, coordination of patient care for all aspects of the patient experience including participation with implantation of devices and EP/Ablation interventions. The incumbent will be able to perform device management, including interrogation during implants and on follow up clinic visits.

Requirements:

  • Current certification in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario
  • Competent to perform CPR at a Basic Cardiac Life Support level
  • ACLS is required
  • Minimum 2 years? of recent and relevant RN arrhythmia experience, preferably in a hospital setting
  • Minimum 1 year of recent and relevant experience with device interrogation and management of both Pacemaker and ICD
  • Proficient in interpretation of data from various device models
  • Minimum 1 year experience participating with implantation of devices and EP/Ablation interventions
  • Proficient in EGM interpretation
  • Commitment to the quality of care of our patients, evidence based practice, and a clear understanding of professional standards
  • Demonstrated ability to provide professional practice leadership, to challenge and motivate others and to provide adaptive clinical care sensitive to cultural and ethnoracial diversity
  • Knowledgeable and committed to promoting healthy work environments
  • Ability to manage change and to foster an environment which promotes shared governance and accountability
  • Evidence of sound organizational and prioritization skills with the ability to work well in stressful situations
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, teaching and interpersonal skills with the ability to work well with patients, families, all levels of staff and the community
  • Ability to work well independently and to exercise sound judgement
  • Promotes and encourages professional development in self and others
  • Ability to perform the essential duties of the position
  • Computer skills should include competency with Word, Excel, Outlook, Meditech

  • Demonstrates an understanding of and commitment to SHN's comprehensive safety programs and practices including staff safety, patient safety, and environmental safety and participates in regular in-service education in this area.
