The Grande Prairie Opioid Dependency Program (ODP) is expanding and has an exciting new nursing opportunity. Our multi-disciplinary team provides support to people experiencing opioid dependence. Our service is expanding to include a new Narcotics Transition Service (NTS), which offers an alternative to those who have not been able to initiate or stabilize on conventional medications. The ODP provides oral medication (Suboxone, Methadone) and now under NTS provides oral or injectable Hydromorphone, Fentanyl and Diacetylmorphine. The Registered Nurse (RN) is a member of our multidisciplinary ODP team. They will be responsible for practice within the Community Protection and Opioid Stewardship Standards. The RN is responsible for assessment, medication preparation, including dispensing oral and injectable medications, and medical intervention (BLS, overdose response, stimulant intoxication response). The RN will supervise self-administration of medication including post consumption assessments. The RN will provide case management, treatment planning, phlebotomy, ECGs, in addition to collaborating with community agencies and external medical and social service providers to coordinate client care and provide referrals. Duties also include training and dispensing of Naloxone kits. The city of Grande Prairie in northwest Alberta has something for everyone! We are a growing city of 70,000 residents. In addition to a competitive rate of pay, AHS currently has a Remote Retention Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $3,000. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay.

As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit Holders shall be paid $35.17/hour - $42.96/hour ($35.87/hour - $43.82/hour effective April 1, 2023). Upon being entered into the register of Registered Nurses, the rate of pay shall be adjusted to the rate of pay applicable to a Registered Nurse in accordance with AHS/UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii) as applicable.
