Registered Early Childhood Educators work closely with all employees in the organization to plan and develop age-appropriate programs. These programs aim to enhance the cognitive, physical, social, and emotional development according to the organization's program statement and philosophy. Using The Child Care Early Years Act, Early Learning for Every Child Today (ELECT), and How Does Learning Happen? and Public Health Guidelines, the Registered Early Childhood Educator is expected to adhere to all the above-mentioned standards.

Along with other staff, and under the supervision of the Supervisor, plans and implements developmentally appropriate curriculum which includes activities, and experiences for children between the ages of 3 months to 6 years of age, focusing on the age range of children in the room you are positioned in.
Provides a physically safe and emotionally supportive environment, showing sensitivity to the individual needs of children in all aspects of development
Observes children for daily overall health and ongoing observations for signs of potential learning or behavioural concerns and prepares written documentation for the Executive Director/Supervisor, parents, and/or outside agencies
Engages each child individually each day, and makes every effort to greet every parent/guardian/caregiver
Demonstrates knowledge of the Emergent Curriculum through How Learning Happens and the Early Learning for Every Child Today (ELECT) documents and can use these tools to set up the classroom, materials, and interactions so that they meet or exceed in all categories
Assess the abilities, interests, and needs of children and discuss progress or concerns with other staff members and parents/guardians
Promotes positive interactions while supervising the classroom, playground, individual and group activities
Engages and works collaboratively as a team member in a classroom environment and maintains regular and open communication with peers and all other co-workers
Able to implement the four foundations of "How Does Learning Happen" through observations, reflections, documentations, and curriculum planning
Engages each child individually each day, and makes every effort to greet every parent, guardian and caregiver
Performs administrative functions as required
Maintains positive relationships with colleagues, children and families
Responsibilities
Provide a safe and nurturing environment for children in your care
Plan and implement age-appropriate activities and educational programs to meet the emotional, physical, intellectual, and social needs of children.
Supervise children during playtime, meals, and rest periods
Maintain open and effective communication with parents or guardians
Ensure the health, safety, and well-being of all children at all times
Keep records of children's progress, routines, and any incidents that occur
Create a safe and supportive learning environment for all students.
Communicate effectively with parents, colleagues, and outside agencies.
Utilize technology for educational purposes
Demonstrate leadership skills in guiding assistant teachers and classroom aides
Stay current on best practices in early childhood education and implement them in daily teaching
Skills
Strong communication skills to interact effectively with children, parents, and colleagues.
In-depth knowledge of early childhood education principles and practices.
Experience working with young children in a classroom setting.
Ability to educate and inspire young minds while fostering a love for learning.
Familiarity with childcare regulations and safety protocols.
Proficiency in computer operation for educational purposes.
Leadership qualities to effectively manage a classroom environment.
